How can meters of cloth enhance the sensuality of a woman? Well, it can and this magic cloth is called “Saree.”
This ancient style of draping an unstitched material is the national garment of the Indian woman. It is simple, unique and designed to cover her modesty. The custom of wearing saree is five thousand years old and is mentioned in the scriptures dating back to 3000 BC.
Saree can be draped in ten to fifteen styles, with pleats and without it. The length of the material can range from five to nine meters. Each state of India has its own style of draping which is easily identifiable, translating the origin of the woman.
The saree is worn with a blouse and petticoat. The length of the blouse varies depending on trends but traditionally it ends well above the waistline. The blouse is usually short sleeved with a round or v-neckline. The petticoat holds the saree and makes it easier to tuck in the pleats.
Choosing the color of the petticoat is essential as it affects the overall presentation. Its color should match the saree or at least should be a shade closer. The saree worn in the state of Maharashtra and northern parts of Karnataka are without petticoat and have a different combination of pleats and gathers that holds the saree firmly. Here the length of the saree is nine yards.
Desi and Arabic girls are really into poetry. I do not know why, but I think despite all the media about the Middle East, people here are really poetic and into Romance and love phrases. This is just a hint if you are trying to win someone’s heart. Do not think its silly. It really works; love enters women through her ears like love enters a man through his eyes.

It is impossible to tell by dress whether a Punjabi woman is a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian – they all dress in salwar topped by a kameez (a garment that can be fitted like a dress loose like the kurta) and accented by a rectangular scarf about 2.5 meters long called the chunni or duppatta. She’s fond of her sweaters, but she is passionately proud of her collection of woolen shawls. These can be breathtaking. The women of Punjab are responsible for the state’s most famous item of handicraft – the phulkari.
This is a shawl completely covered in dense silk embroidery, folk motifs in jewel-tones on an ochre background. Gold is her weakness – brides are loaded with it. The jewelers of Punjab stock an enormous range of designs in bangles, necklaces, rings and earrings, nose-pins, ornaments to pin in the hair, anklets and toe-rings. A particular kind of bangle is the tip-off in recognizing Sikh men and women.
Nyer from Lahore says happy independence day to all DesiGirlsClub reader and share some information about this day. Nyer writes that an Independence Day is an annual celebration commemorating the anniversary of a nation’s assumption of independent statehood, usually after ceasing to be a colony or part of another state, more rarely after the end of a military occupation. Most countries honor their respective independence day as a national holiday and some countries or nations’ independence-date honors are contested. Not all countries have independence days, instead they celebrate another national day.
Pakistan’s independence day also known as Yom-e-Istiqlal is observed on 14 August, the day on which Pakistan became independent from British rule within then what was known as the British Raj in 1947. The day is a national holiday in Pakistan. The day is celebrated all over the country with flag raising ceremonies, tributes to the national heroes and fireworks taking place in the capital, Islamabad.
14 August is a National holiday of Pakistan. In the capital Islamabad and in all major cities of Pakistan the Government Offices are lit up as well as all the larger skyscrapers. Flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programs take place in all the provincial capitals. In the cities around the country the Flag Hoisting Ceremony is done by the Nazim (Mayor) belonging to that constituency. In various private organizations the Flag Hoisting Ceremony is carried out by a Senior officer of that organization. Schools and colleges around the country organize flag hoisting ceremony and various cultural activities within their respective premises. Families and friends get together for lunch or dinner, or for an outing. Housing colonies, cultural centres, and societies hold entertainment programmes and competitions.
Besides cultural differences there are big genetic difference. Pakistanis are more Arab in origin, while Indians are a mix of Ancient Indo-European peoples and Dravidians which were darker people from the south. They look physically different in a subtle way. I do not know who is more beautiful, I guess it is a matter of preference.
