Eid al-Adha Festival of Sacrifice” or “Greater Eid” is a holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. Eid- Ul- Adha is one of the special festivals of Muslim. Eid- Ul –Adha is also known as Bakr- Eid. It is also celebrated by the Druze, an esoteric non-Islamic faith, whose origins stem from Shiite Islam. Eid- Ul –Adha celebrations start after the Hajj. The first day of Eid- Ul –Adha is celebrated on the tenth day of Duhl -Hijja, that is the last month of the Islamic year. In some areas, Eid- Ul –Adha is celebrated for several days by Muslims.
Men, women, and children are expected to dress in their finest clothing to perform Eid prayer in a large congregation in an open area or mosque. Muslims who can afford to do so sacrifice their best domestic animals (usually sheep, but also camels, cows and goats) as a symbol of Ibrahim’s sacrifice. We wish all our Muslim readers Eid Mubarik.
Nusrut from Karachi Pakistan is our new member. In Pakistan Eid is coming 01 to 02 days after this post and she writes some lines about how Pakistani girls celebrate Eid. She thinks Mahndi is the most popular thing which Pakistani girls apply mostly. Mehndi Designs or tattoos are usually worn by women to beautify themselves to celebrate Eid. Mehndi Designs or tattoos for Eid are important for women. However, it is not only for Eid where women use mehndi designs or tattoos.
Muslim women and girls plan for the Eid celebration many days before Eid. Women prepare their Eid dresses and schedule the Eid mehndi designs.
Because Eid is important to Muslims, they want to look good during Eid. However, mehndi designs and tattoos are not limited to Eid. Weddings, Engagements, after having a baby and family get-togethers are also reasons for women to wear mehndi designs and tattoos. Any important event in Muslim is a reason for women to wear mehndi designs or tattoos.
